Combine Your House and Garden Projects

Categories:

We often get involved in garden projects that are completed towards the end or after a rear extension or interior refurb. The exterior spaces are often an after thought, resulting in layout issues, unexpected costs and missed opportunities. We wanted to share why we recommend planning the inside and outside of your property together:

Your garden is an extension of your inside living space and can be viewed as an additional room or rooms. Including the garden in your plans will make the most of whatever outside space you are lucky enough to have.

If the have the opportunity to create a continuity in materials and styles used inside and out, this will enhance your property no end and will sometimes allow you to play with the levels to create a better connection between the two.

Make the most of your views. Viewing your garden from inside is just as important as enjoying being in it, whether this be planting placement to enhance an existing view or creating a new one.

You may not have direct exterior access to your garden so it is important to schedule works to avoid damage to interior finishes through transport of materials and waste. Get the messy garden works done before the new kitchen goes in.

You can save time and money if you are able to use a single contractor to complete your interior and exterior work. Just make sure they have experience of both.

Whether one contractor or several, completing garden works alongside major renovations or extensions can give you the opportunity to install pipework and cabling where it needs to go.
